To provide candidates with an introduction to the knowledge and skills required to manage asbestos in buildings. This is an introduction to the some of the issues covered in the P405 course.

Suitable for

The principle Duty Holders i.e. those in charge of any aspect of repair, maintenance, refurbishment or demolition of a building that contains asbestos; the person or persons in charge of the site asbestos register; any staff member who may be involved in procuring or managing external contractors.

Learning Objectives

To provide an overview of the regulatory requirements for asbestos management and to provide practical guidance on how to manage asbestos in effectively.

Not examined. Certificate of attendance issued.

1.     Module AS01 Asbestos Awareness (delivered in the morning)

2.     Legislation

3.     The Duty to Manage and designation of Duty Holders

4.     Surveys & the risk assessment process with practical examples

5.    Control options for managing asbestos safely

6.    Developing and implementing an Asbestos Management Plan

7.     An overview of the asbestos abatement process.
